Our Trust & Safety fee helps cover LawnStarter's ongoing review of the business information and licensing, if any licenses are required by local laws, of the lawn care pros you engage through the platform.

This fee only applies to lawn mowing, but it also covers the crews while performing the other services we offer such as fertilizing, weeding, bush trimming, tree care, and more.

This fee is mandatory and cannot be waived.

As a marketplace, we independently contract pros as such we are obligated by law to charge sales tax in certain states. LawnStarter will update sales tax quarterly to ensure we are aligned with local and state taxes in the areas we service.

Local and state lawmakers determine which service industries are sales tax applicable. Some services, such as lawn care, have been deemed sales tax applicable, and by law, we must charge sales tax in those areas.

You can file a tax exemption form and if declared eligible for exemption by the state or local government, sales tax can be waived.

However, our system is currently unable to handle the exemption of sales tax.

When you file your taxes, you can declare that we charged you for tax, which the government can verify, validate, compute, and then deduct when you make your tax payments.

In accordance with our Long Grass Policy if on your mow, your Pro reports to us that your lawn is between 9 and 15 inches tall, we will add a one-time fee equal to 50% or 100% of the regular mowing price to compensate the Pro. If the long grass covers just a part of the yard, the additional fee can be 50%.

If most of the yard between 9 and 15 inches, then the additional fee will be 100%.

A $15 cancellation fee will apply if a service is canceled on the same day.

A cancellation fee of $25 applies for services rendered by our Partner Providers if canceled within 48 hours of the service date.
